Visiting Star Studded Hollywood

I visited Hollywood three times in a three-week period. My main reason was to find a Booking Agent who can help me with my speaking engagements in the United States. As you guessed there are many, many beautiful people in Hollywood. I stayed at the elegant Standard Hotel on Sunset Boulevard where all the celebrities hang out.

The hotel was a very cool and hip place. Many beautiful people from all over the world came there looking for entertainment opportunities. It was like a world trade show: people from all over the world were there.

There were people in beautiful clothes and I could see all the unique colorful beauty of everyone. Clothes were very different from San Francisco. Lots of body and skin showed as much as possible.

I was in the spectacular lobby where there was a huge cage with women employees inside of it using their computers. I’m sure they hired models to do this because they all were gorgeous. A lot of the bellmen had tattoos on their arms. It was unique and a different hotel experience.

I was wearing what I thought was a unique costume with sparkling rhinestones and bright colors and it was pale compared to the costumes of the hotel staff and clients. I noticed that everyone was proud of his or her own body and uniqueness. Hollywood has a unique culture all its own. They accept everyone no matter what their color or dress.

I met potential agents and PR companies. Here I am a 52 year-old Korean American. I explained to them what I am all about and what I can bring to the entertainment world. When I explained all my accomplishments no one laughed at me. They accepted me for who I am. I was amazed. Nobody knows me in the entertainment industry and they are willing to take a risk and try. It was an amazing thing to me. They had good listening skills and a positive attitude. Agents think out of the box as they are looking for unique and different kinds of entertainers.

That was Hollywood. That is their culture. Nobody can beat Hollywood in the entertainment field.

There are six things I learned about Hollywood.

1. Be prepared. Know the agency and what they are looking for. Do a Google search and learn all you can about the company and who the key people are.

2. Be open-minded. Listen to new ideas and suggestions.

3. Be different. Dress differently. Be yourself but open to other opportunities.

4. Introduce yourself quickly with a lot of energy, smile and confidence. Make them want you. Tell them, “I can do this for you.” “I’m the best because….” “I’m unique…”

5. Bring your entourage with you. Don’t go by yourself. Have all the support you can get.

6. Know who your competitors are and know what you do better.

Remember...You Are a Super Hero!
