I have a friend, Mario, and every day when I see him he would sigh and say,
“Another day another dollar.” Then I would say methodically, “Right.” Then he
would ask, “How are you doing?” I’d say, “I’m fine. I’m alright.”
Every time I saw David, who was in the same company,he would say
enthusiastically, “Good morning! Great day. Let’s have fun together.” When David
would say, “How are you doing?” I would respond with a big smile and
enthusiastically say, “Great! I’m having a great time. We’ll have fun today.”
David always inspired me. So in the morning the first thing I did was look for David and I used to even go to his office to just say good morning. I needed his big smile. My company and me were always disappointed if David was absent for a day because we wanted to hear his cheerful voice.
As much as possible we avoided Mario because his attitude always de-motivated us.
Are you trying to improve your business financially and morally?
Remove your negative words when you talk to employees because it is impossible to do anything at work with that kind of attitude. It lowers your energy and removes your enthusiasm. Then employees lose interest and only do a fair job at work.
Imagine how the employees would react when David walked into the room — it was a fun environment and people would think they are fortunate to be working there. The employees in our diverse company worked so well together in the fun environment that on their own volitions they improved the productivity from an 8% to 2% return rate in our manufacturing company in three years.
